Call for Submissions
Our first call for submissions is live!
This is the first call for collaboration and submission for the inaugural issue of Odyssey zine, which focuses on tabletop gaming and is geared towards independent tabletop games, their designers, and their communities.
The first issue of Odyssey is looking to drop in late October or early November, depending on content submissions and other logistics.
Odyssey is free to read (nothing is placed behind a paywall, including our archives).
Odyssey does not pay contributors at this time. However, we are working to fix this. We are accepting any donations or tips to help us commission art and other creative content related to independent tabletop games.
For our inaugural issue, we are looking to cover the following topics (in some way):
· OSR
· NSR
· FKR
· Braunsteins
· Storygames
· Life Cycles of Universal TTRPG Systems
· Beginning-Level Adventure Design/Design Deep Dives
· System Reference Documents (SRDs)
· Game Jams & Tabletop Gaming
· Online Gaming for Tabletop Games
· New (Upcoming) Systems/Games
· Actual Play (Podcasts, Live Streams, VOD)
· Running TTRPGs (as a Newbie)
· Exciting Trends in Tabletop Game Design
· Histories of Tabletop Gaming
· Great Introductions to Tabletop Gaming (Specifically, Independent Games)
· Card Games (Design, Communities, Etc.)
· Board Games (Design, Communities, Etc.)
· Safety Tools/Toolkits
As one can see above, the inaugural issue hopes to offer a great deal of content about tabletop gaming. More specifically, proposals should consider how to approach these in an evergreen and beginner-friendly manner. The hope is that each future issue will expand into more focused themes.
Want to contribute? Send your proposal(s) to [email protected].
Keep your proposals under 75 words. Be sure to check out our submission terms here.
We're looking to sort through proposals this week and will stop looking at the by Sunday, October 20, 2024.
